I'll start by saying that i really like the SoloLearn platform. It's a great resource to sharpen your programming skills while having fun and interacting with other users.

So what makes SoloLearn stand out from the competition?

It is really easy and straightforward to use. Just sign up and start learning for free.

Learning doesn't become a tedious work but instead it feels rewarding as you get "xp" and keep leveling up.

For everything you learn, there is a quiz afterwards so you can strengthen your knowledge.

At the end of every chapter there is a final quiz to make sure that you got a good grasp of what you've learned so far.

When you finish the courses you get a certificate of completion to showcase your skills.

There are forums, Q&A's and a code playground to ask questions and share your knowledge with others

Of course, as expected, there are paid services as well, so you won't see any ads and have access to even more great courses.

I'm currently using Google Webmaster Tools (see my post on Google Tools) for tasks like discovering queries that lead to my website, links to my site and submitting sitemaps to get better indexed by Google.

The thing is recently the last couple sitemaps i submitted are on a pending state without giving more information. I think this is wrong because in the past i clearly remember that when submitting a sitemap i got the message that i had submitted a certain number of pages, which was the same as in the test sitemap option(and got a date as well), but now the submitted pages number doesn't change.

The same sitemap submitted to Bing Webmaster Tools returns no problems and the right number of pages is submitted. Is there anyone out there having the same problem? Could it be that Google is making an update or something like that?

It's the year 2013 and almost everyone maintains at least one blog or website. Luckily, the biggest online company, Google, provides users with tools for updating, styling and analyzing their website or blog. Below, we present some of these tools that are suitable for the novice and the professional users as well.

You can create and publish your blog instantly and Blogger's service offers you countless options for styling, formatting and updating your blog. Of course, you can find thousands of sources online for changing your blog's appearance. From templates and widgets to comment plugins and social buttons. Two years ago, i built my own system with a quad-core AMD Athlon II X4 645, a motherboard based on the AMD 880G Chipset, 4 GB of RAM, a 500 GB HDD and an Nvidia 8800 GTS 320 MB graphics card.

The card was somewhat old for the system, as it was second hand (gift from a relative). So, after some months playing top and demanding games like Elder Scrolls V:Skyrim and Racedriver:GRID the card died. Well, i remember being in front of a black screen and after restarting there were artifacts everywhere. Then, there was no signal from the card to the monitor and much the same situation appeared when i connected the card to my other system.
Searching online, i found guides suggesting putting the card in the oven (!!!), a solution i never tried. Nevertheless, to my surprise, baking the graphics card seemed to work for many (brave) users.
But, let's get to the point of this article. After the card died on me, i immediately decided to turn to the integrated graphics and give it a shot with some games. My system has an integrated Radeon HD 4250, which i thought would be capable of some light gaming. I've never been so wrong. Just kidding. Of course, i never tried to even start Skyrim but i managed to play GRID in low settings. The integrated graphics didn't struggle with Full Hd video playback and old and not demanding games like Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Pro Evolution Soccer. Nowadays, i play a lot of League Of Legends and i get 9-23 fps in-game. Well, this is obviously a very low number but i find the game running smoothly so it doesn't bother me.
To sum up, i'm really pleased by the performance of the Radeon HD 4250. It's a reasonable solution till i get a new GPU.

Thank you for reading, comment below and have fun.

Let's cut to the chase. You want to build a gaming rig without spending too much euros (dollars, etc.). After an extensive research i've done the last few hours i concluded that the AMD platform is the way to go (and not because i am an AMD fanboy).
We'll use an AMD A-series APU ( Accelerated Processing Unit ) combining a quad-core CPU and AMD Radeon Graphics on a single chip; thus we'll have reasonable peformance and low power consumption.
For the motherboard we choose one with Socket FM1. AMD A55 chipset offers good performance/price.
As we put an APU in our low budget system there is no need for a standalone graphics card.
Putting 4 gigabytes of RAM in our system should be more than enough for everyday use and some quality gaming.
A 500 GB Hard Disk Drive will accommodate all of our files (games, music, movies, etc.) and leave us enough space.
It's critical that we use 400 - 500 Watts of power coming from a brand name psu, so that our system is stable.
It really looks like a big iPod touch. It features a 9.7-inch display, it weights about 1.5 pounds and is 0.5-inch thin and its processor speeds at 1GHz. It has, also, built-in connection with the iTunes Store and support for Youtube's Hi Def.

As it's an Apple's product it's going to rock, doesn't it?Christodoulos Santorinaioshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16996553533190969391noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3973062592735757079.post-25104675756052758932010-01-23T04:22:00.001-08:002010-01-25T01:26:49.722-08:00Checking to see if twitterfeed worksIt works like charm and it's really useful if you want to tweet your blog posts.Christodoulos Santorinaioshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16996553533190969391noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3973062592735757079.post-13117665756430995912010-01-21T03:14:00.000-08:002010-01-21T03:14:06.830-08:00Bill Gates spreads the word tooFrom January 19 Bill Gates begun spreading the word too from his own official Twitter account. What? Of course, i became one of his thousands followers as soon as i found out. Is there a more trusted source to hear about Microsoft news and learn everything new about its products than the creator of Windows himself? The first tweet he made was a "Hello World" and some other things he said, i can't recall.
Follow him ( http://twitter.com/BillGates ) to learn useful stuff about his next plans or anything that he tweets about.
Also, he shares from now on, with us, the common people, a site with his notes ( www.thegatesnotes.com ) that are basically thoughts he makes about the world of today.Christodoulos Santorinaioshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16996553533190969391noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3973062592735757079.post-30871727617321898512010-01-20T03:44:00.000-08:002010-01-20T03:44:02.871-08:00Everyone's waiting for Apple's big reveal on January 27th . Are you?The last days the most usual piece of tech information you come across when surfing the web is the big event that Apple holds in the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.

Most people "predict" that Apple is going to introduce us a new killer product, which will be of course another success story for Apple. As you've read in this blog like 3 weeks ago rumors say that Apple will present a tablet pc (call it "iSlate", "iTablet", "Macbook Touch" or anything else). This is the main expectation for the event.

The fun part is the "predictions" that more and more people write at blogs about the event, or the comments that guests leave at tech blogs.
I must admit this picture sums up the opinion we all have about operating systems and it's really funny. No impression that it has been dugg nearly 7000 times.
Hey, before leaving this post i should say that the browser i use to surf the net is much better than the one you use to scroll this page down.
After the big success of Facebook Connect, Twitter seems to be planning to create a set of tools to for third parties to integrate Twitter features into their websites, blogs, etc. Facebook claims that 80,000 websites have added Facebook Connect, while 60 million Facebook users engage with Facebook connect on these third party Web sites each month. So, we only have to wait to see if there is similar reaction to the new Twitter's "Connect".
Later, a special edition of the game was released the "Unreal Tournament; Game Of The Year(GOTY) edition" because of the success of the original. Also, the UT's community continues to support this old game (with mods, whole new levels, new weapons, armor etc and of course helping others get into UT's world) showing that some times the technology of a game (graphic engine, menu designing etc.) doesn't really matter if it is offering a lot of fun through lan or internet multiplayer especially at levels full of
redeemers :) and is challenging as well (right now i am finishing UT at experienced, i don't think i'll ever make it to godlike). The good part is that i am playing UT on my netbook and of course there is no problem with the requirements, i have more than the recommended 64mb of ram xD. So, if you are in the mood of playing one of the best first person shooters of all-time that showed the rest of them how is done or you want just to remember the old times you only have to try Unreal Tournament. And remember; gamers who forget the past are doomed to fail.Christodoulos Santorinaioshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16996553533190969391noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3973062592735757079.post-78269583419282447442010-01-12T07:40:00.000-08:002010-01-13T04:58:22.212-08:00A glance at Assassins Creed IIIn Christmas holidays i had a chance to try Assassin's Creed II on my cousin's PS3. Although, this kind of games make me feel boring after some time, i really enjoyed the first Assassins Creed (i haven't finished it yet) that i played both on my pc and on playstation 3 of a friend. The only drawback i found about the first game of the series is that the missions are almost the same after some time and this gets annoying. Nevertheless, this doesn't appear on the second game, as far as i have seen it. You are arranged different missions each time from different NPC's and this is exciting as you reveal secrets through talking with many characters, understanding their behaviour and interacting with them. Also, Assassins Creed II kept all the good stuff from the first game as is the freedom you have to climb at every building and the really beautiful graphics and it added new features as is the cooperation with Leonardo DaVinci that lets you handle some of his inventions (ex. gliding machine) and the "ability" for the hero to swim, something that the hero in the first game couldn't do and it was a real disadvantage (he can climb 70-metre buildings but he can't swim lol). Nevertheless, many people say that it has similarities with Pocahontas, which some friends of mine spotted too when we watched the movie on its premiere. Here is some pretty convincing evidence that proves this :)
http://digg.com/comedy/Proof_that_Avatar_is_actually_Pocahontas_in_3D
Christodoulos Santorinaioshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16996553533190969391noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3973062592735757079.post-65013439395920045252010-01-11T00:26:00.000-08:002010-01-11T00:56:10.093-08:00Prince Of Persia; The Sands Of Time on my netbook (gaming)
I thought it would be pretty easy for my netbook asus eee pc 1101(atom z520, 2gb ram) to run the first Prince Of Persia game. That wasn't the case here. Ok, at first it was lagging a hard time (i didn't count fps with fraps or other program but maybe i'll do it for another post) but i thought it happened because of the graphic settings. I turned everything at its lowest so all i had were low settings. The game begun to run much smoother at the beginning scenes at least. When i got to a scene of the game where many characters appear on screen (the first battle you had to use the dagger to retrieve the sand from your enemies) the game was unplayable. The whole thing seems strange to me as i run the game on 2gb of ram and i thought it would run smoothly at least at medium settings because its an old game after all (2003). I shouldn' t have waited for anything more from an intel gma 500 graphic system. I'll try to play the game with 16-bit colour setting instead of 32-bit as i have heard that helps a lot and i'll report to you.Christodoulos Santorinaioshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16996553533190969391noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3973062592735757079.post-41184398918136012282010-01-10T02:37:00.000-08:002010-01-10T03:50:57.447-08:00Alienware M11x; the most powerful ultra-portable laptop
Dell announced the Alienware M11x a mini laptop with unusual specifications for its category. Talking about unusual specs we mean that this laptop is much more powerful than other 11 inch laptops feauturing the NVIDIA GT335M graphics card that can easily be switched with the integrated graphics without having to reboot the system. Its performance is pretty impressive as it can hit 30 fps at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. On integrated graphics it is estimated to hit 6 hours of battery life while on gaming mode it can reach 2 hours. More specs; hdmi-out, vga-out, 720p screen resolution (not blu-ray). This very interesting notebook becomes a good deal as its price will be just under $1000.Christodoulos Santorinaioshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16996553533190969391noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3973062592735757079.post-39857010482526928302010-01-07T23:23:00.000-08:002010-01-07T23:28:01.597-08:00There is always a comebackThere are always times that you feel your life sucks, that you have ruined all your efforts, that you didn't do from the beginning what you should have done or that what you did was never enough. Sure, that is the case for me after failing a pretty easy computer exam but this will sound like nothing to worry about for you. As a coincidence, i decided to start studying hard as in the past i just didn't study at all. So, that means less time for this blog, but i think noone reads my posts so even if i don't write it will make no difference.Christodoulos Santorinaioshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16996553533190969391noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3973062592735757079.post-21487324228774368132009-12-29T00:22:00.000-08:002009-12-29T02:09:47.394-08:00Who says netbooks can't game?Netbooks don't have the specs of desktop computers of course and they can't even get close to the performances of current notebooks. Nevertheless they can be a part of some low entry gaming or handle games that are considered old. What seems really strange (to me) is that netbooks like mine (2gb ram) or weaker than mine can run smoothly more or less high-end games at their lowest settings of course. Also, as "netbook gamers" claim try running a requiring game at 16-bit instead of 32-bit and you'll see much increase at the performance of your netbook.
Here are some videos from youtube which prove that netbooks can do some serious gaming.

Christodoulos Santorinaioshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16996553533190969391noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3973062592735757079.post-82249446468753271672009-12-27T01:16:00.000-08:002009-12-27T01:51:54.388-08:00Is Apple going to introduce another great gadget and surprize us all for one more time?
Rumor has it... that Apple will introduce a tablet pc. Ok, it may not be just a rumor as Financial Times said that Apple is expected to make a very important product announcement on January 26th at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, where Steve Job's company rented a stage for several days and also that Apple called some programmers to create full screen applications not for iphone that has 320x480 screen resolution.Whatever the name of its tablet will be (Macbook Touch, iSlate, etc) the posibilities for success of this product are high as happens with every other product of this company. So, we only need to wait until the end of January to see what is this major "secret" that Apple's going to reveal.Christodoulos Santorinaioshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16996553533190969391noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3973062592735757079.post-48858834177113654102009-12-24T02:06:00.000-08:002010-01-10T03:42:37.941-08:00Asus Eee Pc 1101HA; My very first netbook (Hands-on review)I'm not the guy that buys every new gadget in the market nor the one that changes his computer system every year or something like that. Frankly, i have my computer system for 3 and a half years now and i feel like having a strong bond with it despite its specs that are considered low-end nowadays. Nevertheless, i wanted to buy a small notebook to help me with my studies and be ultra portable. Also, i didn't want to spent a fortune for it and i didn't mind so much about the features it had. The only thing i wanted from the netbook i was going to buy was to run a version of Windows 7. The netbook i chose to buy is an Asus Eee Pc 1101HA featuring an 11,1 inch screen with resolution 1366x768HD,an Intel Atom Z520 at 1,33GHz, 2GB of ram(great for a netbook) and 250GB HDD that can reach up to 750GB of space using ASUS Webstorage Service. As an ordinary netbook it offers a high resolution web-cam, vga-out port, 3 usb ports, card reader(ms/pro duo), wifi n connectivity for even faster internet access and extreme portability. What this netbook offers more than other netbooks is its long lasting battery life that can reach up to 9 hours using Super Hybrid Engine, so you won't worry if you get out of battery any time soon after you unplug it.

Also, i found its keyboard really ergonomic, so this netbook will be helpful enough to write a blog post while you are on your way somewhere.
